The Ball was cancelled in 1998 due to the difficulty in maintaining a local committee to oversee this event. Anyone wishing to express their view on seeing the Ball continue are welcome to contact myself where your comments will be forwarded on.
Our 2nd year (1997), we had 160 people attending and many in full costume. The food was outstanding. Special thanks to the culinary teachers and students from Niagara College. Boy what a spread they put on. This alone was worth the cost of ticket.
The Ball's main focus is still the War of 1812 or "Regency Period". Very few people attended in casual attire with the majority either in 1812 period clothing or today's formal evening wear. Of course we had a few other timelines present, American Revolutionary, American Civil War and Late Victorian. Prizes for best dress were awarded to best male and female War of 1812 period and best couple overall.
Cost of the event included dinner, dance, entertainment, and lots of prizes. Music was provided by a period 3 man band "Melarky" who entertained us with lively Celtic music. We also included 2 dance mistresses to heighten the fun.
